Narrative
SWIFTON, AR – A field engulfed in flames spewed thick smoke, triggering a collision involving more than a dozen vehicles, resulting in at least two fatalities and the complete closure of Highway 67 in both directions on Tuesday.
The pileup occurred where Highway 67 intersects with Arkansas 226, just south of Swifton.
At least two people suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The total number and extent of any other injuries sustained in the crash are unclear at this time.
Troopers believe a nearby grass fire caused limited visibility in the area that led to the fatal crash.
