Narrative
FORT SMITH, AR – A 32-year-old man died Friday in a single-vehicle car accident along the highway in northwest Sebastian County.
The incident happened around 5:18 p.m. on the northbound side of Highway 71 near Highway 45, which is in the southern outskirts of Fort Smith.
Police say that the victim was speeding when he lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and crashed into a pole.
Authorities declared the driver, identified as Willis Kelvin, deceased at the scene.
The 30-year-old passenger in the vehicle went to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
