Narrative
LAKE CITY, AR – A 67-year-old woman and a male paramedic died Friday in a head-on collision along the highway in east-central Craighead County.
The incident occurred at 10:26 a.m. on AR-18 near Highway 158 in the Lake City, which is about 15 miles east of Jonesboro.
Police say that an eastbound 2024 Nissan Sentra entered the westbound lanes of AR-18 and collided head-on with a westbound 2018 Ford E-350 ambulance carrying a patient, a paramedic, and the driver.
The driver of the Nissan and the paramedic died at the scene. Authorities identified the victims as Janet Chapman and Mark Gibson.
The driver of the ambulance and the patient sustained unspecified injuries.
