Narrative
BLYTHEVILLE, AR – Two adults died, and two children sustained injuries in a three-vehicle accident in northeast Mississippi County on Sunday.
The crash occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. on AR-18 near County Road 361, which is just west of Big Lake National Wildlife Refuge in the city of Blythewood.
Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of a 2024 GMC Yukon SUV entered the wrong side of the highway and collided head-on with 2014 Nissan Pathfinder SUV. The Nissan then struck a 2005 Ford Ranger truck on its right.
Both the wrong-way driver and the driver of the Nissan died at the scene. Authorities identified them as 72-year-old Keeley Wheeler and 37-year-old Patricia Edge, respectively.
Medics transported two children involved in the accident to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
