Narrative

LONOKE CO., AR – A  multi-vehicle crash resulted in a fatality at the junction of Highways 165 and 31 in Coy on Monday.

The incident involved two vehicles traveling west on Highway 165. Michael Hampton, 73, from England, Arkansas, was the sole occupant of a 2005 Volvo. Hampton was following a 1999 Volvo, also headed west.

According to the initial report, Hampton’s vehicle struck the rear of the other, causing both vehicles to come to a halt in the southbound lane of Highway 31, facing north.

Hampton was pronounced dead at the scene, while the occupants of the Volvo emerged without injuries.

The Arkansas State Police are actively investigating the crash.
